MTG: CUBE-A-HOGA: Cube Draft Tournament 7/18

CUBE-A-HOGA is a 32-player cube draft tournament hosted by Superscript Comics and Games — and a celebration of the Midwest cube community. Whether you are a seasoned cube enthusiast or cube-curious and ready to try something new, CUBE-A-HOGA is built around what makes cube so much fun: creative deckbuilding, unique card environments, and playing Magic with people who love the format. A cube draft is a custom Magic: The Gathering draft format where players build decks from a specially curated pool of cards, known as a cube. Instead of opening sealed booster packs, cards from the cube are shuffled and distributed into draft packs. Players draft from those packs, build decks, and compete against the other players in their draft pod. Every cube is different. Some cubes showcase Magic’s most powerful classics, while others focus on specific themes like artifacts, multicolor synergy, graveyard strategies, nostalgia, or wild build-around cards. Part of the fun is discovering what each cube has to offer. At CUBE-A-HOGA, every player will participate in two cube drafts. After each draft, players will build their decks and play three Swiss rounds against the other drafters in their pod. Each pod will crown a Draft Pod Winner, and the top-performing players will advance to the Top 8 Draft. The tournament will be run through Hedron Network. Attendees will use Hedron to rank the cubes they want to play, view their assigned cube for each round, check match pairings, and follow tournament standings.

1. Player Check-In: 11:00 AM
2. Draft Round #1: 12:00 PM
3. Draft Round #2: ~4:00 PM
4. Top 8 Draft: ~4:30 PM

1. Champion: Custom altered “2026 Champion” Marsh Flats
2. Top 8: Custom “Top 8” embroidered patch
3. Draft Pod Winner: CUBE-A-HOGA trophy pin

Store credit will also be awarded to Top 8 players based on attendance.

Please note our event cancellations policy:

All cancellation requests must be made at least 48 hours before an event. This gives us the opportunity to fill the event. Cancellation requests must be made by phone or in-store. Cancellation requests that are not made prior to the 48 hour window will not be refunded unless an exception is made by a member of management.
